Turkey Trot

Because of Covid-19 we’ll be holding our annual Turkey Trot in a slightly different format this year. Instead of our usual in-person gathering at the Muncie Depot, we hope you’ll still celebrate your holiday by getting out and walking, running or riding with friends and family any time over the Thanksgiving weekend. But this year you get to pick the time and location, either on the Greenway, in your neighborhood, anywhere, and we invite you to register for this virtual event in support of the Greenway.

Because of this modified format, you can participate anywhere throughout the 62 miles of the Greenway and still support the trail from Thursday, November 26-Sunday November 29. We’ll have signage placed at various trailheads with suggested distances but you’re welcome to get out and pick your time, place and distance, either on the trail or elsewhere. We also want you to share photos of your activity with us so we can show them off on social media. You’ll receive instructions on this when you register.

With the trail seeing a significant increase in usage this year it’s been a challenge maintaining and caring for the sixty-two miles of the system for the thousands of people out walking, running and riding. With all of our Spring and Summer fundraising events being canceled this has had an impact on our daily operations so your support for the virtual Turkey Trot is especially meaningful this year.

You can find more information and register here.

BikeTOURberfest is our event that features the southern section of the Greenway in Wayne County. Like the Turkey Trot, we’re holding it in a virtual format this year and encouraging participants to register in support of the trail and create their own tour any time through October 31. You can find more information and register for BikeTOURberfest by visiting the event website.

Trail Support

We are very grateful for grant funding we recently received from two great community partners. We appreciate the continued support of the Henry County Community Foundation and the United Way of Delaware, Henry and Randolph counties. Thanks to these organizations for their ongoing support of the Greenway!

Trail Friends

This is normally the time of year when we begin removing the portable restrooms from our trailheads throughout the 62 miles of the Greenway. But with trail use remaining considerably higher than usual and the weather still feeling like Summer we’ll be leaving them out through the end of November, including for our virtual Turkey Trot mentioned above. We hope you enjoy this extended time with these much needed amenities!

Shop and Support

Today marks the start of Amazon Prime Day and offers an easy way for you to support the Greenway. As you’re taking advantage of the various deals and promotions today and tomorrow, if you utilize Amazon Smile you’ll also be supporting the trail since a donation will be made for every qualifying purchase.  Simply select the Cardinal Greenway as the benefitting organization and shop away. Trail Feedback

If you’ve been out on the Greenway lately you’ve probably seen one of these signs. Our partners at the Rails to Trails Conservancy have launched a project to capture stories from users about their favorite trails and their impact these last months. With trail use high across the country, communities are seeing their value now more than ever. We hope you’ll share your love of the Greenway following the instructions on the signs or by clicking here.
